The nights are drawing in and the air is crisp. The shops have been selling Christmas products since the end of the school holidays. Autumn is well and truly here.
With Summer now a distant memory your menu and your restaurant should reflect the change in seasons.
It you haven’t done so already, now is the time to switch up your menu to suit the weather.
We’re talking warm, hearty food that can create a sense of comfort for your customers while utilising all the great produce that is in season.
Just make a list of all the fruits and vegetables that are in season during autumn and then create a special dish and make it available for a limited time only.
Think about the usual suspects like potato, parsnip, turnip and cauliflower but don’t forget kale, purple sprouting broccoli, spinach or butternut squash. All these vegetable can make a cheap but delicious meal that will warm your customer’s hearts!
The short days mean your customers are likely to be spending more time indoors. If you have a delivery service, why not discount your delivery fees to make staying home on the sofa and ordering takeaway to tempting to resist.
Your new autumn ‘brand’ can be promoted on posters, email and text campaigns as well as on social media pages and of course your website. Your promotional graphics should feature darker, earthier tones to reflect the season. Think about images that will make people feel warm and come in off the streets to try your place; coffee, steaming plates of food, fires.
If you’ve got a working fireplace then get that bad boy lit up! Nothing creates a cosy atmosphere like a crackling fire. If you haven’t got a fireplace, think about using low lighting to create that autumnal, cosy atmosphere.
The darker seasons are here for a while yet so make the most of this time of year to get new customers through the door.
And don’t forget, there’s only 50 days until Christmas!!
